A full Grade II listed restoration brought into the modern age, Five Bells Cottage combines traditional Cotswold character with bold architectural detailing, bespoke craftsmanship, and beautifully reimagined living spaces designed for contemporary family life.

Reworking a Character Cottage

Five Bells Cottage underwent a complete top-to-bottom renovation alongside a substantial single-storey rear extension, transforming a traditional stone cottage into a luxurious and highly functional modern home. One of the defining features of the project is the contemporary rear extension, finished with a striking standing-seam zinc roof that deliberately contrasts against the original Cotswold stone walls.

Large bespoke timber and glazed doors open the rear elevation completely to the garden, flooding the new open-plan kitchen and living spaces with natural light while creating a seamless connection to the outdoor entertaining areas. Internally, major structural alterations were undertaken throughout, including the complete relocation and rebuild of the main staircase to dramatically improve the flow and usability of the home.

Bespoke Joinery, Heritage Features & Contemporary Living

Craftsmanship sits at the heart of Five Bells Cottage, with bespoke woodwork produced extensively by our in-house joinery team. Custom oak shelving was designed and fitted into the living room alcoves, a bespoke solid oak entrance door was manufactured for the property, and a substantial machined oak structural post creates a striking focal point beside the new staircase.

The property was stripped back, fully replastered, and completely reconfigured internally to create bright, flowing living spaces. The newly fitted kitchen combines deep navy shaker cabinetry, premium stone worktops, a traditional white AGA, and a large central island, while restored fireplaces, exposed timber beams, stone flooring, and underfloor heating blend period charm with modern comfort throughout the home.

Nathan, Adam and the entire team were great to deal with. They were efficient, proficient and hard working. They completely renovated and extended our three storey grade 2 listed house with care and precision on time AND on budget.

We would (and have) thoroughly recommend them. They mobilised resources as and when needed and their after care service is exemplary.

Loft Transformation, Luxury Bathrooms & Outdoor Entertaining

The loft space was transformed into a spectacular vaulted master suite, exposing the original oak A-frame beams to create a dramatic sense of height and character. The luxury en-suite features a freestanding bath, brushed brass fittings, and a walk-in shower enclosed with black-framed fluted glass, while the remaining bathrooms throughout the home were redesigned with premium tiling and contemporary fittings.

Outside, the rear gardens were extensively landscaped with multi-level natural flagstone patios designed for entertaining and outdoor living. Existing outbuildings were also restored and adapted into practical new spaces, including a bespoke outdoor kitchen and integrated log store, completing this exceptional Cotswold home transformation.

What was once a traditional period cottage with dated interiors and underused spaces has been transformed into a beautifully balanced Cotswold home tailored perfectly for modern living. Through structural reconfiguration, bespoke joinery, luxury finishes, heritage restoration, loft conversion works, and contemporary architectural additions, Five Bells Cottage now offers entertaining spaces, light-filled interiors, carefully restored original features, and seamless indoor-outdoor living — all while retaining the timeless charm and character that made the property special in the first place.
