Works have kicked off on three fronts at once. Inside the main house every bathroom is being stripped for a contemporary refit, while two internal load-bearing walls are coming out to make way for a single-storey glass-and-stone extension that will connect kitchen, dining and garden in one seamless sweep of light.
Up on the roof new conservation-style skylights puncture the original slates, pouring daylight deep into the loft rooms and first-floor corridors. Elsewhere our team have stripped back tired clay tiles on the annex, relaid breathable membrane and battens, and are now stitching in hand-mixed lime mortar to repoint decades of weathered brickwork.

Most striking are the sleek steel-framed windows now peppering the elevations. Several fresh openings have been carved through the stonework to frame long views across open countryside and future-proof the house with passive solar gain.
Stay tuned as this great new project takes shape takes shape.
